Everyone asks: do you follow the “no white after Labor Day” rule for wearing white? No. No, I do not. Rules, schmools. (At least, when it comes to wearing white.)
When to Wear Them
For me, I say it’s perfectly acceptable to wear white jeans as soon as it starts to get warm. Even during winter months, I will sometimes go with a winter white or ivory, so really, there’s not much in the way of restrictions when it comes to wearing white.
Shopping Tips to Keep in Mind
With that in mind, there are a few key pointers to remember when you’re looking for the perfect pair. First, always check the thickness of the fabric and make sure they are not see-through. Undies showing through? Not fun. Also – the thickness is important to keep in mind for comfort as well. You want a fabric that’s thick enough to cover the undies, but not so thick that it will make you hot and uncomfortable in the heat of summer.
Another important note to keep in mind is cost. The odds forever demand you will ruin a pair or two from spilled drinks or food – like wine, or pasta sauce – not that I’d know anything about that. Cough. Cough. But, because of how easy it is to ruin them, I don’t suggest spending a lot of money on them.

Where to Shop for the Best Deals
I have a few favorite haunts for picking up affordable whites in trendy styles. Old Navy and LOFT always have the best picks for the best prices. I even pick up a few extra pairs when I shop. That way I have at least one back-up on hand in case of an “emergency” spill. Just call me the Girl Scout of shopping. Always prepared. That’s me! I don’t know if they give away merit badges for shopping, but if they did, I would totally own that patch.
If you do want to splurge and purchase a pair that’s a bit costlier, there are several places that offer cute styles. I have seen some super trendy picks from DL 1961 and Frame if you want to go that route.
How to Pair Them for the Best Looks
Once you have your perfect pair picked out and you know when to wear them, the next question is how to pair them for the best looks. In general, I love pairing bright colors with them. Silk sleeveless blouses or a bright colored t-shirt work well with white jeans. Another favorite look is stripes – I’ll pair a striped t-shirt with white jeans all day long. Love that look!
If you want to dress up your look a bit, there are some easy tricks to spicing things up for a dressier look. Add a navy or chambray blazer over top of your shirt pick and use a pair of fun and colorful heels to add a little pop to the look. If it’s cooler out, booties look adorable with white jeans and a coordinated color sweater. Easy peasy.
